I sleep with my arm under the pillow
Tucking an arm under adds its thickness to the loft, so the effective height is your pillow plus your arm. People who do this are very often compensating for a pillow that is too low — the arm is filling a gap the pillow left. Getting the loft right frequently removes the habit rather than requiring a different pillow.
This one is not a pillow question alone. Numbness, tingling or an arm that goes dead is a nerve or circulation matter and belongs with a clinician, not a pillow page. This entry only describes what putting an arm under a pillow does to the height.
What the pillow has to do
- loft in measured range — Pillow loft within the range your own measurement implies. This is first for every constraint in this cluster, because no surface is soft enough to rescue a pillow your head has already flattened.
How people ask this
- Arm under pillow numb
- Pillow for people who put their arm under it
