The openings are different sizes. The Pillow With A Hole Ltd.'s The Original P.W.A.H® (V1) gives 11 x 9.5 cm (4.5 x 3.5 inches), positioned 12 cm (5 inches) from the edge; The Doughnut PWAH® gives 8 cm × 9 cm (3.1 × 3.5 inches). A larger opening clears a bigger object and a wider range of ear positions; a smaller one keeps more surface under your head. Measure what actually goes in your ear before choosing between them.
Only one says where the hole sits. The Original P.W.A.H® (V1) publishes its opening position as well as its size; The Doughnut PWAH® publishes size alone. For a pillow whose whole job is putting a gap under one ear, position decides whether you find it in the dark.
